Fragile elderly dog had hidden strength to heal from massive wound.

Sweetness poured from his anguished eyes. The older boy had laid down in a drain of waste water, trying desperately to find relief from pain. His enormous wound was exploding with maggots.

Without rescue he didn’t have much longer to live. We hurried him into treatment with pain medicine, IV drip for dehydration, and most vital, removing the maggots and cleansing his wounds.

He was almost toothless and arthritic, but he delighted us with his hearty appetite and youthful desire to get better fast. He melted into our cuddles and stayed peaceful and loving throughout his daily wound dressings. You’ll see in this video an amazing rapid healing process.

We just kept saying “Shabaash” which means “Wow! Wonderful!” in Hindi. And that’s what we’ve called him: Shabaash.

One said:”OMG,so incredibly touching the care and tenderness you show this poor dog. You are truly angels. So happy to see the beautiful dog heal and live out his remaining years in such a loving environment. You all have such amazing hearts. Thankyou”

A wᴏman cᴏmmented:”I can’t thank you all enough for the fantastic work of love and compassion that you and your team do for these beautiful and helpless animal friends. You’re all performing miracles of love and compassion every day and especially with this beautiful furry friend. It was a heart-rending sight to see the painful condition of this beautiful creature and your team took the pains to clean him up, tend to his grievous wounds and bring him back to health. Truly a most heartwarming sight and I’m left speechless. Thank you so much Animal Aids India team. Wonderful work!”

Anᴏther replied:”Great recovery “wonderful” one. High 5 to all involved in his rescue and healing process. I was blessed to have an older female dog “find” me. She taught me alot and was such a good girl. I made sure her last years ( which sadly were 2) would be her absolute best. Ole Mammas was awesome and i miss her so 😢💔”
